Beta-carotene:

the most abundant of various isomers of carotene, that can be converted by the body to vitamin A.

Biennial:

a plant which completes its life cycle in two years, without flowering the first year.

Bitter:

a tonic which stimulates the appetite and promotes the secretion of saliva and gastric juices by exciting the taste buds.

Borax:
