Edema: a painless swelling caused by fluid retention beneath the skin's surface.
Emetic:
induces vomiting.
Emollient: softens and soothes the skin.
Emulsifier: an ingredient that binds together the oil and water portions in the soap or lotion making process.
Enzyme: complex proteins that are produced by the living cells, and catalyze specific biochemical reactions.
Erythema: a superficial redness of the skin due to excess of blood.
Essential Fatty Acids: unique skin care nutrients, once called vitamin F, found in unsaturated vegetable oils. Linoleic, linolenic, and arachidonic acids are essential fatty acids that must be supplied to the body from outside sources, as the body does not produce them.
