Essential Oils Continued

The therapeutic potential of essential oils has yet to be fully realized and approved by the FDA despite their use as plant derived remedies for over 5,000 years. Essential oils are the regenerating, oxygenating and immune defense properties of plants. Essential oils are so small in size they are capable of rapid penetration of skin tissue. Essential oils are lipid soluble and capable of penetrating cell walls. It is believed that essential oils may effect every cell of the body within 20 minutes to be then metabolized as a nutrient. Essential oils contain oxygen molecules which help transport nutrients to other cells. By providing oxygen, essential oils work to stimulate our immune system. Essential oils are powerful antioxidants. Essential oils are anti-bacterial, anti-cancerous, anti-fungal, anti-infectious, anti-microbial, anti-tumoral, anti-parasitic, anti-viral, and antiseptic. Essential oils may detoxify blood and body cells. Containing sesquiterpenes, essential oils have the ability to pass the blood brain barrier of the brain. Thus, essential oils may be beneficial in the effective treatment of several diseases: Alzheimer's, Lou Gehrig's disease, Parkinson's, and multiple sclerosis.

Essential oils are known to help promote emotional, spiritual and physical well being and healing. Similar to herbal remedies, an essential oil is quite diverse in ts effect and can perform several different functions. Where one particular herb or essential oil can stimulate certain systems of the body, it may also simultaneously relax another system. Lavender, for example, can be used to help burns, PMS, insomnia, inflammation, and insect bites. Synthetic chemicals, on the other hand, are opposite in that they usually have one action. We have come so far and yet have so much to learn.
