Grapeseed oil is a polyunsaturated oil that is rich in linoleic acid. At 68-76%, it contains the highest amounts of linoleic acid among any oil or food source. Grapeseed oil also contains 0.8 to 1.5 % unsaponifiables rich in phenols (tocopherols) and steroids (campesterol, beta-sitosterol, and stigmasterol. One tablespoon of grapeseed oil provides nearly the recommended daily allowance for vitamin E.

Because grapeseed oil is rich in linoleic acid-an essential fatty acid important for the skin and cell membranes-it is allotted regenerative and restructuring virtues which allow a better control of skin moisturization. It also presents emollient and film-forming virtues.

In formulation, grapeseed oil is a compound of the oily phase. At Hummingbird, we use grapeseed oil as an active principle and as a carrier oil.
