It also contains silica, an important food for the roots of hair, believed to prevent hair loss by promoting blood flow to the scalp. Herbals and herbal extracts high in organic silica and cystine are important in hair care products.

Nettle is high in phosphates, iron, and trace minerals. It is used in hair tonics, creams, and astringents. The seeds and herb are used in the production of the herbal extract.
