The common broad-leaved Plantain is a very familiar perennial weed, and may be found anywhere by roadsides and in meadow land.. Belonging to the natural order of Plantaginaceae, plantain contains more than 200 species, 25-30 of which have been reported to be in domestic use.
The drug is without odor; the leaves are saline; bitter, and acrid to taste; the root is saline and sweet. Plantain contains "allantoin," also found in Comfrey, which has proven to promote healthy new cell growth in tissue, thus rendering wound-healing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Hummingbird uses organically cultivated Plantain, infused in certified organic olive oil only.
Plantain is for external use only. |
