Raw Sugar

When sugar cane has been processed to remove molasses and refine sugar crystals, raw sugar is the residue.

Raw sugar contains fibers and molds which are considered nutrients. To be sold in the United States, raw sugar requires some refinement which leads to the depletion of some of these nutrients.

There are three types of raw sugar: Demerara sugar, from the Demerara area of Guyana, is coarse in texture, and dry. Turbinado sugar is fine-textured and moist.

Barbados raw sugar has been steam-cleaned.

We at Hummingbird Bath Products use raw sugar in our facial and body scrubs for its texture only, and its ability to gently aid exfoliation.
