Vodka

Astringents, by definition, are agents used to remove the last traces of cleanser residue, and to also remove excess perspiration and oil.

Astringents tend to be strong and are usually used on oily skin types. Many commercial astringents contain rubbing alcohol and/or acetone (nail polish remover). These are quite drying to the skin and can cause damage to the skin's surface.

For those of our customers with oily-very oily skin, who prefer a strong astringent as opposed to a mild astringent, we use a 100% pure vodka as our alcohol base. Combined with Orange Blossom water, or Rose Water, our astringent cleanses and soothes without causing trauma to the skin.

Vodka is a colorless alcoholic liquor distilled from fermented wheat or rye mash, potatoes or corn.
